About The Montana Hotel

Breakfast and a bar on site make The Montana Hotel a practical base on Gloucester Road, with a restaurant and room service available for guests who'd rather not venture out after a day of sightseeing. Kids' meals are catered for too, so families aren't left scrambling for options.

Rooms come with a mini-fridge and tea kettle as standard, along with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning and drinks in the room. Some rooms show their age rather than feeling freshly refurbished, but they're kept comfortable and functional, and family rooms are available for those needing more space. A lift serves the upper floors, and extras like laundry service, luggage storage and concierge help take the friction out of a stay.

The staff are consistently noted as helpful, and the location counts for a lot here: Gloucester Road tube station is close by, putting South Kensington's museums within easy reach, alongside a scattering of pubs and restaurants nearby. Free WiFi, business services and airport transfers round out a set-up that's built for convenience rather than frills.

Highly recommend The Montana Hotel. Check in was quick and they were helpful with luggage. Breakfast selections were very good; I had both the Continental and full English breakfast during my 4 night stay. Rooms were clean and surprisingly quiet for being on the street side. Location is excellent, just half a block to the Gloucester tube station. Convenient to food, stores, and post office is just across the street. Royal Albert Hall was just a 15 minute walk for me, and I am old and slow! Museums are close by as well. Check out was quick and staff was helpful with securing taxi quick cab service. Would definitely stay here again. My only concern was the bathtub/ shower. Difficult for those with mobility issues.

Stayed at Montana Hotel. The building has beautiful old architecture and a charming, classic feel. You can tell it’s very old, but it has been maintained reasonably well. The lobby and bar are especially nice, with a colorful chandelier that’s great for photos. The room followed the same vintage style, but everything felt quite worn. The carpet looked very old, and the bathroom was extremely small and not well maintained (towels placed on top of the toilet, damaged mirror). The bed looked good but was uncomfortable, and I didn’t sleep well. The pillows weren’t great either. Breakfast was served in a very elegant dining room, which I really liked—the ambiance is lovely. However, the food was quite basic, and the service felt a bit cold and serious, with little warmth. On the plus side, the staff at reception were friendly and helpful, and luggage storage is available. The location is excellent—very close to Gloucester Road station. Overall, good for a short stay due to location and price, but there’s definitely room for improvement.

The hotel is located in a civilized, clean, and elegant neighborhood by London standards. The Gloucester Road Underground station and a Waitrose supermarket are conveniently situated just across the street, while Hyde Park and the Natural History Museum are within walking distance. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Both the room and bathroom were clean and well-equipped, and we especially appreciated the refrigerator and the EU-standard power outlet.

The old-fashioned, traditional look of the hotel is fantastic. Chic-looking wallpaper everywhere, beautiful carpets and furniture. One feels the glorious past all around. And yet all is very clean. Comfortable bed, good breakfast, friendly staff. Ideal location, too.
