About Strathmore Hotel

A row of grand Victorian townhouses on Queens Gate Gardens forms the setting for the Strathmore Hotel, its period façade giving way to 77 guest rooms fitted with en-suite bathrooms and in-room drinks. Rooms are kept clean and comfortable, though some are on the compact side, so travellers wanting extra space might want to check room categories before booking.

Breakfast offers a good range of choices, and the on-site restaurant and bar provide further options for eating and drinking without leaving the building. Staff are attentive and helpful throughout, and the hotel's facilities extend to meeting rooms and business services, laundry, luggage storage, concierge assistance, and airport transfers, making it as practical for business trips as for leisure stays. A lift serves all floors, and childcare can be arranged for guests travelling with family.

The location in Greater London puts guests within reach of West Brompton, around 1.54 miles away, and there are pubs, restaurants and entertainment nearby for evenings out. Windsor Great Park is also within reach for those wanting a day trip beyond the city. Overall, the Strathmore offers straightforward comfort and good value in a well-connected part of London.

We had a wonderful stay at the GEM Strathmore Hotel Kensington and would definitely recommend it. Our room was surprisingly spacious for London standards, very clean, and the bathroom appeared to be recently renovated. We had a view of the courtyard, which was not particularly attractive, but this did not affect our overall experience. The breakfast was excellent, with a good selection of quality products, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive. The service throughout our stay was warm and welcoming. The only downside was the housekeeping in the corridors. On several occasions, we passed dirty dishes and leftover food trays that had been left outside guest rooms for a long time without being collected. We walked past the same items multiple times, which was unfortunately not very pleasant. We also noticed vacuum cleaners and cleaning equipment left in the hallways during the evening when no staff were actively working there. This created a slightly untidy impression, which was a shame because the hotel itself is clean, elegant, and full of character. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay and would happily return. The location, friendly service, comfortable rooms, and excellent breakfast make this hotel a great choice for a visit to London.

Good hotel. Very convenient location for museums and the Royal Albert Hall. Tube station (Gloucester Road) 5 minutes walk at, where there are shops and restaurants. Hotel has great staff, very helpful and polite. Room we had, although small had everything we needed as a base. Our breakfast was included in the price and was good. Choice of fruit, cereals and a cooked breakfast, though no baked beans, which was odd. Small lift but it did the job. The bar was good and they served very good breakfast tea 👍. On the other hand I've had much better tasting Camden pale ale, not the best. Overall, I would recommend this hotel if you are going to the Royal Albert Hall or want to visit the many museums in South Kensington.

I had such a wonderful experience staying at Gem Strathmore Hotel, and I will always be grateful for the kindness I received here. I was going through a very difficult time while travelling and had unexpectedly missed my flight, leaving me without a place to stay after being awake all night. I arrived at the hotel very early in the morning, around 8 a.m., long before the normal check-in time, completely exhausted. The manager was incredibly understanding and compassionate. She immediately reassured me, offered me water and coffee while I waited, and went out of her way to have a room cleaned and prepared for me as quickly as possible so I could finally rest. Her kindness during such a stressful moment meant far more than she probably realizes. The hotel itself is charming, cozy, and in a fantastic location, with comfortable rooms and a welcoming atmosphere. But what truly makes this place special is the genuine care shown by the staff. Thank you for treating me with such warmth and humanity when I needed it most. I’ll always remember your kindness and would happily stay here again whenever I’m back in London.I had such a wonderful experience staying at Gem Strathmore Hotel, and I will always be grateful for the kindness I received here. My experience was a little harsh as it was the hottest day of the year. The room was nice and clean. Bathroom a little dated and small. But no air con so the room was very hot not able to open windows for any breeze. Even with 2 fans in my room pointed at me I still was hot. Breakfast was nice but again with no or small air con quite hot in room.
