About Travelodge London Central Aldgate East
Aldgate East sits at the edge of the City, within reach of Tower Bridge and the transport network that makes this stretch of London easy to explore or work from. Travelodge London Central Aldgate East gives visitors a no-frills base here, spread across four floors with a lift and 24-hour reception for late arrivals or early starts.
The 69 rooms are simple and en-suite, with drinks available and accessible rooms on offer, plus pets are welcome. There's a bar and cafe on site for breakfast or a drink in the evening, and a pub and restaurants nearby for something more substantial. Rooms are kept clean and staff are consistently helpful, though anyone booking should be aware that rooms near the train lines can be noisy, so it's worth requesting a quieter spot if light sleep matters.
Parking isn't available on site, but chargeable parking can be found five minutes' walk away at Minories Car Park on Shorter Street. With the City's business districts and transport links close by, it works well for both practical stays and exploring this part of London.

Half the rooms in this hotel back ontoea very busy and incredibly noisy railway lines. The noise is constant. It was also very hot and there is no air conditioning so the room was like an open oven. The curtains do not blackout at all so daylight is in the room early this July. Complained but was largely ignored. They have obviously heard it all before many, many times.

The hotel is old and run down. There is no AC in the rooms and if you are on the side of railway you have constant noise all evening until about 1am then it starts again around about 5am. Nobody cleaned the room or emptied the bin even though we asked at reception and left the notification on the room door handle. We averaged £180 a night so it was not a cheap option and £640 including the breakfast package for our trip. The breakfast was lovely, the breakfast staff were great and hard working. We rarely use Travelodge because we have found them to be poor quality and this experience only reinforced our opinion. The bathroom sink would not drain water and the shower base was dirty and stained. The shower barely worked or dribbled water that changed from hot to cold with no control. The only positive, Nobody tried to get into our room while we were in.

Probably the worst night I've endured at a hotel. Whilst the weather was warm (26c), the fourth floor resembled a sauna: it was like stepping off a plane in the tropics entering that floor and our room. Despite a 'cold' shower before bed to try cool down the night consisted of lying on top of the bed and praying to the fan whilst sweating and trying my best to fall asleep. Any notion of getting sleep was ended at 4am when the trains started with their relentless screeches rendering my earplugs completely useless. Probably would have felt more rested staying out in a bar for the night. Giving it 2 stars rather than 1 as the staff were good and the location is very central.

Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Basic services and items you get everywhere else just not there so I’ll never book a travelodge again, completely sub standard. Can’t leave luggage, so we had to walk around the corner (ironically!) to Premier Inn where we could pay a small fee to leave it. No air con, and the room was unbearably hot. Not enough plugs, none at all by the bed. No bath mats, which is just dangerous, so hand towel had to be used instead. Shower temperature inconsistent without turning the controls, ran either too cold or too hot. The toilet in our first room was broken, so we had to move rooms. Then the toilet in the second room was also not working, but my partner managed to fix it himself. The only lift was also broken, so we were carrying heavy bags up multiple flights of stairs. Honestly I could go on, smelly drains, broken windows, noisy, dirty cups. The staff we spoke to were lovely, and tried to help where they could, but there was nothing they could do as just everything was wrong. We’ll save a few steps and just book in at Premier Inn next time.
