Really special to eat in the gherkin, albeit on the ground floor. Special food, but portion sizes are quite small. They did well to cope with our large group, through service was a little slow. Good value for a special meal.

Great venue with very attentive staff. Food quality was also excellent - we both had lobster roll and would highly recommend. There was a really nice atmosphere/m too - a buzz without being intrusively loud on our conversation.

Had a really great experience at The Sterling in the Gherkin! The highlight of the visit was the lovely American waitress who served us - she was genuinely friendly, super helpful, and really knew her cocktails. I asked for a Cuba Libre, which surprisingly not many people know how to make properly, but she nailed it quickly and served it with a big smile. Yes, the prices are slightly higher compared to some of the nearby pubs, but honestly, the quality of service made it well worth it. She also took the time to recommend a few food items when I asked, which I really appreciated - will definitely be coming back to try them for lunch! Overall, the service was warm and welcoming, which made the experience stand out in an area packed with more generic pubs. Looking forward to returning soon! UPDATE FEB 2026: It appears that the American girl had left and the service from some of the other girls wasn’t quite up to scratch - still great however but not as good as my first experience here last year - 4 stars.

We hosted our Winter Ball here and honestly couldn’t have asked for a better venue. From start to finish, the staff were absolutely incredible, so friendly, professional, and genuinely accommodating, even with a large group. Nothing was too much trouble, and they made the whole event run seamlessly. The venue itself is perfect for big groups: spacious, well laid out, and created a great atmosphere for the night. The food was also a real highlight: great quality, well presented, and consistently praised by our guests. A huge thank you to the whole team for helping make the night such a success. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this venue for large events and would happily book again.
