About Best Western Hotel Hatfield

The Esplanade runs along Lowestoft's seafront, and it's here that the Best Western Hotel Hatfield looks out over the water, giving many of its rooms a direct sea view. Suffolk's coastline stretches out on the doorstep, with cycling and walking routes, fishing and watersports all within easy reach, plus pubs, restaurants and entertainment nearby for evenings out.

The hotel has 33 rooms spread across two floors, each with an en-suite bathroom, and family rooms are available for those travelling with children. Facilities include a restaurant and bar, room service, drinks in the room, and free WiFi throughout, with a lift for easy access. The restaurant has built a reputation for its carvery and fish and chips, and breakfast and packed lunches can also be arranged. Staff are consistently friendly and attentive, though service can be slow at busier times.

Beyond the rooms, the hotel caters for meetings and business trips with dedicated meeting rooms and business services, and it doubles as a wedding venue complete with a bridal suite. A golf course lies nearby for those wanting to combine a coastal break with a round or two, and free on-site parking makes arriving by car straightforward.

The view at breakfast is the only positive I have for this absolute dive, rooms are dirty and dated, here as a single occupant and asked for a double room to which the receptionist said no we’re fully booked (literally no one here!) so ended up with 2 tiny single beds, bathroom is absolutely minging, 1 small fan for what felt like I was sleeping in an oven and to top it all off the night porter gave someone a key to my room at half past midnight. Not good enough!

Lovely place to eat and drink. Looking over the sea, right on the prom, nice stroll after food n drinks. Lovely carvery on Sundays. Clean smart & modern interior, however the downstairs ladies toilet needs a make over! Not stayed here so can't comment on bedrooms.

Booked by phone. Seaview was changed to car park view by the time I arrived.! The room was not on the seafront but in an annex one road back. Even though it was described by staff as being one of their most modern rooms there was a pervading mould/rot problem emanating from the bathroom. On top of that the ventilation problem was dire. Only one small window 9ft up.! Window blinds - missing! But there was plenty of really hot water. The wifi worked. The tv was too slow.
