The Cottage

The Cottage is a thatched property in Richards Castle, a village in the heart of Shropshire countryside roughly 2½ miles from Ludlow. Inside, the ground floor opens into a generous open-plan living and dining space with a woodburner, French doors to the garden, and a 39-inch Smart TV. The kitchen is fitted for proper cooking—electric oven, induction hob, dishwasher, microwave and coffee machine all present. Upstairs are two bedrooms: one with a kingsize bed and one with two single beds. There is one shower room with a heated towel rail.

What you get matters here. Electricity, bed linen, towels and wi-fi are all included, along with logs for the woodburner and a welcome pack. On-site parking fits three cars. Outside, the enclosed lawned garden has furniture, a barbecue and a summerhouse. The property sleeps four comfortably and is yours alone for the duration of your stay. Children under 12 are not able to be accommodated, and smoking is not permitted.

Ludlow itself is a proper destination—medieval castle, independent shops, restaurants and bars—and marks the start of the Mortimer Trail toward Kington and Wales. The wider area offers serious walking: Clee Hill and countless paths through Shropshire countryside make it worth coming back to after exploring the day out.
