About Cobb Arms

Marine Parade runs along the seafront at Lyme Regis, with the harbour wall and the Jurassic Coast stretching out beyond, and it's here that the Cobb Arms sits among the town's coastal bustle. With only three rooms, it's a small, pub-first operation rather than a big hotel, so guests get a simple base within easy reach of the shore and the fossil-lined coastline the area is known for.

Downstairs, the restaurant and bar are the heart of the place, serving hearty pub food including fish and chips, pies, and burgers, with portions generally on the generous side. Staff are consistently described as friendly and attentive, and the overall value for money is a recurring plus point, though quality in the kitchen has occasionally been inconsistent. Breakfast is included, and there's a garden for fine days, free WiFi throughout, and 24-hour reception for flexible arrivals.

The property also handles weddings and meetings, and pets are welcome, making it accommodating for a range of stays. Free on-site parking is provided, useful given the popularity of Marine Parade, and further pubs, restaurants, and entertainment can be found nearby for those wanting to explore beyond the Cobb Arms itself.

Amazing quirky pub with rooms. Great service from the guys on the bar and the food was very good value for money and very tasty. Some very arty bits and bobs around the bar that are for sale and some interesting signs :) “No we didnt get naked.” Would definitely recommend this pub if you are in Lyme Regis for the day.

Popped into The Cobb Arms for food and drink mid afternoon. Greeted by a friendly barman, great service from start to finish. Drinks arrived quickly. Ordered fish & chips and ham, egg & chips. Good was excellent, very well presented. Thank you.

I had fish and chips here mid-afternoon on a Monday in late June. The service was efficient and polite, the food came really quickly, and the taste was excellent. Utterly exhausted after a 7 mile walk in hot and very humid conditions through the Undercliff, this was enormously appreciated. Simple food, done well. Thankyou!

I've eaten here many times over the years but had lunch yesterday and felt the food standards have slipped. Staff were great, beer was great but we spent about £75 on lunch and I felt a bit ripped off. They said they were short staffed but there were dirty tables hanging round for the whole of our lunch so we ate looking at remnants of other peoples food. The staff that were there were so busy though, this was not their fault. The special of a crab sandwich was £15 and was only dark crab meat, no white, between the cheapest white bread going. A small salad garnish but nothing else with it. The fish finger sandwich was also made with the cheapest brown bread and was so dry, only with the smallest smear of tartar sauce. I couldn't eat most of the bread, just had the fish from inside which was nice. Kids chicken goujons and a ham and cheese sandwich were basic but fine, again with cheap bread. Disappointing that the place seems to be using cheap ingredients and cutting back on staffing levels but still charging the same prices. I probably wouldn't choose them for lunch next time as there are so many other places to choose from.
