Peaceful, almost wild camping in a secluded spot in the New Forest. Spot free-roaming wild animals onsite!

About Denny Wood Campsite

Tucked into a secluded pocket of the New Forest, Denny Wood feels closer to wild camping than a traditional campsite - and that's entirely the appeal. With ninety non-electric grass pitches scattered beneath oak and beech trees, you're truly embedded in the woodland, where New Forest ponies, deer and even the occasional pig wander freely through camp. It's wonderfully peaceful, though facilities are minimal: there are no showers or toilets onsite, just drinking water and chemical disposal points, so you'll need to be self-sufficient.

The lack of creature comforts is a trade-off for the setting and sense of immersion in nature. Families love the freedom for children to explore safely, and the network of walking and cycling trails starts right from your pitch. Note that pets aren't permitted, which helps protect the grazing wildlife that make this corner of Hampshire so special.

What a fabulous, quiet and relaxing campsite. A great place to chill and recharge your batteries. The peace is only broken by bird tweets and is a great base for walking and cycling. Previous problems with no water pressure have gone due to the installation of a new main. Just had 2 nights there and can't wait to get back. I'm clearing my diary for the coming weekend!

If you can do "off grid" and enjoy the peace of the countryside then this is the place to stay. Great walks and cycle routes in the heart of the New Forest. Staff were friendly and helpful with a small shop and reception. Will definitely be back.

Very nice spot, in pure nature. Wild horses around. Cycling route passing over the campground. We had a lovely 3 night stay, with our 2 children (3 and 5) who really enjoyed a bit of cycling every morning and evening from the campground straight into the woods.
