What visitors say
We had a wonderful visit. It’s an absolute bargain to get in and the cafe was reasonable too. The volunteers have incredible knowledge and are genuinely passionate about the history of Elizabeth Gaskell and the house she lived in. More people should know about this - I can’t recommend it highly enough. AND! You buy a ticket and you can return as much as you want within a year. I’m already planning to go again with some colleagues!

Wanted to visit for ages but struggled to get here due to limited opening hours. Got stuck in traffic and parking surrounding park is all now for residents permits only. However with an hour left of our hour and a half slot we were turned away. I was offered a paper ticket to return another day (having driven 20 miles to get there). Paper ticket says "last entry 4pm?! And here I was being turned away at 3.35pm. Not sure I'll risk another day off driving in to have the goalposts moved again!

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. The museum isn’t that big but has a lot to see and I really appreciated the interactive elements of being able to open drawers, look inside books etc
