About Milverton Hotel
A restaurant and bar on site give the Milverton Hotel a straightforward appeal for anyone wanting food and a drink without leaving the building, with an outdoor seating area and garden adding options beyond the usual dining room. Room service and drinks brought straight to your room are also available for those who'd rather not move at all.
Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, and beds are kept properly made up with clean linen, while showers are generally in good working order. Family rooms are available, and practical extras include free WiFi, laundry service, luggage storage and meeting rooms for anyone travelling on business. Staff are frequently described as helpful and kind, though service can be patchy at busier times, and some rooms show their age rather than being freshly maintained throughout.
The hotel sits on Anson Road in Manchester, with a golf course, entertainment, and various pubs and restaurants all nearby for evenings out. Free on-site parking is a useful bonus for drivers, and a 24 hour reception and concierge service mean help is available whatever time you arrive.

What guests say
I rarely leave negative reviews, but after over a decade of travel and hotel stays, this experience was genuinely disappointing and well below even basic hospitality standards. From the moment I arrived, the biggest issue was the complete lack of staff presence. There was no one available at reception, and the hotel operates in a way that feels more like an unattended property than a professionally managed hotel. This aligns with what many other guests have noted staff are often not physically present, making even simple requests difficult to resolve. One particular incident summed up the experience: I requested an extra blanket, which is a very basic and reasonable request in any hotel. Not only was this denied, but there was no proper support or alternative offered. It gave the impression that guest comfort is not a priority here. The service overall felt disorganised and unprofessional. The absence of staff means you are largely left to deal with issues on your own, which is unacceptable in a hospitality setting. Reviews across platforms also reflect similar concerns, with low service ratings and reports of poor responsiveness. While the hotel advertises itself as offering a “friendly team” and a quality guest experience, the reality does not match these claims. In summary, this hotel may appear budget-friendly, but the lack of service, support, and basic hospitality makes it difficult to recommend. Even for short stays, there are far better options in Manchester that provide proper customer care. Verdict: Not recommended unless significant improvements are made to staffing and guest service.

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE Ourselves and other guests were left on the street after the owner said rooms had "plumbing issues". No attempt by the owner to find alternative accommodation - just ushered us out the door. The owner also declined to refund, so I had to go through the small claims court to get my money back. I would not stay here, owner is creepy and we did not feel safe whatsoever.

Very disappointing stay. The room had no safe, and there were no proper locks on the door, which felt unsafe. There were no working lights, the bathroom sink was broken, and the beds had a bad smell. There was also no staff available in person to assist or handle concerns. Overall, the condition and service were unacceptable. Would not recommend.

BEWARE! I booked a room on the website of the hotel. I left my credit card details to guarantee the reservation, as well as my e-mail address and phone number. I called today because I might be arriving late, and was told that my reservation was cancelled because I did not make a payment before 2pm, and that the room was not available. Nothing in the confirmation e-mail states that I would need to make payment by credit card, no effort was made to contact me by phone or e-mail (I checked my spam folder). I had also stayed at the hotel once before, and nothing was said then about having to pay before 2pm. Now I will need to pay for a more expensive hotel at the last minute. AVOID!
