About a&o Manchester City Centre

A mini-fridge and an oversized television in every room set the tone at a&o Manchester City Centre, a 164-room hotel on Dickinson Street in the heart of the city. Rooms are well-kept and roomy by city-centre standards, with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning and decent shower pressure, plus family and accessible options for those who need them. Some travellers note the basics stop there, so it suits guests after a clean, comfortable base rather than an extensive amenities list.

Downstairs there's a bar for an evening drink and breakfast to set guests up for the day, along with meeting rooms, luggage storage and a lift across the hotel's four floors. Pets are welcome, and drinks can be brought straight to the room. There's no parking on site, so it suits those arriving on foot, by train or by tram.

The location is the real draw, with Piccadilly Gardens within walking distance and Manchester Art Gallery and Castlefield both an easy walk away. Pubs, bars and restaurants are close by, and a golf course and entertainment venues are also nearby, making it a practical base for exploring the city centre.

The room and bed is decent in size. We booked double bed for two and it was lovely. Shower and toilet are clean. There was no kettle on the room which was explained on the rules for fire safety but they have a coffee machine in the reception. We avail breakfast which is good for it's added price for the room. Good selection of food and there is vegetarian option, too. Location is near St. Peter's Square, for tram station and walkable for Manchester Picaddily Station.

Its is amazing for what you pay! Great prices for a big, modern room. The beds were so comfy and the AC worked really well for a very hot weekend. There's no kettle in the room so bear in mind if thats something you want.you can buy soft drinks and alcohol from reception. There is a hairdryer in the room.great central location.

Checked in with Pasquale and he was so accommodating! He made sure a group of 16 people were checked in quickly and efficiently. He explained our rooms, breakfast and check out! I cannot thank him enough! Really happy with the quality of the rooms and location was excellent! Thank you so much to A & O hotel but also Pasquale for letting us leave our luggage at reception before checking in and making sure check in was easy as can be!

Check in was very awkward and slow, instead of just info to the person at the desk you have to scan a qt code and put in an extensive list of your information (which isnt always clear what its asking you for) and once you've done this it gives you a code. You then give this code to the desk person, where they proceed to confirm all the details you just submitted anyway so this seemed like a pointless step and judging by the queue at reception it creates quite a hold up and is generally not very welcoming. I also recieved no info about breakfast options either. After all this, the room was basic but clean so not much to complain about. Location is very handy so for the price not bad but check in needs to be wither made fully self check in or just be normal like everywhere else.
