About Premier Inn Manchester City Centre Portland Street
Premier Inn Manchester City Centre Portland Street suits anyone after a no-fuss stay in the middle of town, whether that's a work trip near Manchester Central Convention Complex, a weekend exploring Oxford Road, or simply a well-priced overnight stop. With 233 rooms across four floors, it's set up to handle a steady flow of guests without losing consistency.
Rooms are en-suite and come with the usual Premier Inn reliability: comfortable beds, straightforward comfort over frills, and drinks available in room. There's a restaurant and bar on site for evening meals, plus a breakfast buffet to set guests up for the day. Air conditioning isn't guaranteed throughout, so it's worth bearing in mind if you're visiting in warmer months. An electric vehicle charge point and 24-hour reception add practical touches, and accessible rooms are available.
Parking isn't on site but is available nearby at the Q-Park on St James Street, underneath the neighbouring Novotel, with a discount for pre-booking. The central location puts pubs, bars and restaurants within easy reach, alongside entertainment options nearby, making it a sensible pick for anyone prioritising location and value over extras.
What guests say
With Premier Inn you kind of know what you are getting, and I have stayed in many many PI’s, they are my go to accommodation when working. I was on a recent job and booked into the Portland Street property. The location is very good, right in the centre of town. It was a warm week when I stayed and discovered that there is NO air conditioning at this property. This was confirmed at the front desk when I asked why the thermostat says 28 and I couldn’t change it!! All of the rooms have a fan which doesn’t cut it at all. The property itself is dirty, the corridors and public areas are dull and miserable with poor lighting. As for the rooms, the bed is comfortable and the rooms are roomy and reasonably clean, but they could do better. For a one night stay it was just ok. Check in was crazy. One member of staff checking people in, with the line of people very long, stretching to the door. Out of the three self check in terminals, only one worked. The staff are lifeless and apathetic. The cost of hotels are going through the roof but the value for money is falling for the floor. Must do better Premier Inn.

8/10 would come again, but don't eat or drink Check-in was super friendly and done in one minute. Literally. The room in third floor was super clean on the first view. Large mirrors and brightly illuminated bathroom with a full stream of hot water are also provided. Edit: next morning I had touched another persons p00p stains on the wall right behind the toilet paper dispenser. That was gross 🤢 at least dried completely. Also no toilet brush is provided so I couldn't get rid of my own stains in the bowl neither. And here's the best thing. I found out that the reason that I was sick on Saturday and the whole Sunday what's the gross and disgusting coffee machine from the hotels breakfast. The machine on the right hand side was not powered on any day I was there. The Espresso made in the machine on the left-hand side was ridiculously gross. So my whole trip was being sick from the hotel's coffee. Room was nice though. Only one tablet of unknown substance was under the bed. Let hand side. Room 324 B. Amler 27.07.2026

Hotel was nice either the check-in and luggage storage room was nice. It was clean. But the air conditioning in my room was not working. They put some electrical heating equipment into my room. It made your room really warm, but the bathroom was a little cold and the pressure of the hot not really well, but it was OK. It was really price performance hotel. I love it.

The location was great, it's reasonably close to the station and walking distance to all major attractions and the high street. The rooms were average. They aren't air-conditioned but the fans they provided are quite sufficient. The breakfast buffet in their restaurant is quite satisfactory. The best part is the service, most staff are very helpful.
