About Oakhill
Oakhill occupies a Grade II listed Georgian house built by the Arkwright family in the historic mill village of Cromford, part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site around two miles south of Matlock Bath. The house was sympathetically restored and reopened under new ownership in 2021, combining its original period features with a thorough contemporary refit.
Accommodation ranges from four named luxury suites, including rooms styled around the Arkwright family and the Derwent itself, to a further ten en-suite bedrooms in the wider house. A fine dining restaurant and bar occupy the ground floor, alongside landscaped gardens and a small campsite with hook-ups in the grounds for those touring the valley.
Cromford's own attractions, including Cromford Mill and the Cromford Canal, are within walking distance, while Matlock Bath and its cable car are a short drive or towpath walk away, making Oakhill a good base for exploring the whole stretch of the Derwent Valley World Heritage Site.

Such a beautiful place to stay. The room, bar, restaurant and grounds were immaculate. Our room: Beautifully decorated. Comfy beds. Sparkling clean ensuite. Very spacious. Dinner/Breakfast: Service was great. Very friendly and attentive staff. Food was delicious especially the eggs royale I had for breakfast. Really good selection of meals. The grounds: Absolutely lovely. Beautifully kept gardens and some real attention to detail of the whole appearance of the place. Would highly recommend to anyone and would love to stay again.

As a family of five we have used Oakhill Hotel and restaurant several times in recent years, creating happy family memories and our most recent visit this month exceeded all previous experiences and expectations. The friendly welcome and service was heartwarming and we enjoyed refreshing pre-dinner drinks in the beautiful gardens. Sharon was a wonderful manager and we were delighted to meet Sharron the owner too. We ordered prawn cocktails, soup and breaded brie for starters. All were thoroughly enjoyed and served with the most delicious warm home baked rolls. We ordered a Scampi meal ( all cleaned carefully), pork, beef and turkey roast dinners for mains and they were all delectable and perfectly cooked in extremely generous portions. Even the small meals were too large to finish completely. We did manage to find room for ice- cream, panacotta, passion fruit cheesecake and rich chocolate brownie however. We were treated like royalty and would not hesitate to recommend this wonderful establishment to anyone seeking perfect service, quality of food and an idyllic setting. What a combination! Oakhill is a jewel nestled away yet so close to transport routes and Derbyshire towns. Our whole family would like to thank Oakhill sincerely from the bottom of our hearts for such a fantastic experience. We shall certainly be returning!

We have just left Oakhill with a tear in our eyes after the most perfect wedding. From the day we booked the service was exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble and the attention to detail was amazing. Louise, the wedding planner was always on hand to answer any questions. All of our guests commented on how wonderful the food was. The gardens looked amazing and were the perfect backdrop for our photos. The staff were all so wonderful, a special shout out to Olivia who was just so lovely. A massive thank you to everyone involved in making our day so perfect. With love Mr & Mrs Lawford xx
