Touring site on the edge of Melrose beneath the Eildon Hills

About Melrose Gibson Park Club Campsite

Melrose Gibson Park Club Campsite sits on the edge of town beneath the Eildon Hills, close enough to walk into Melrose for the abbey, shops and restaurants without needing the car. Run to Caravan and Motorhome Club standards, it takes tents, caravans, motorhomes and small campervans across grass and hardstanding pitches, with electric hook-up and fully serviced options available. The surrounding parkland is quiet and well kept, and facilities are maintained to a good standard, with modern shower and toilet blocks.

The location makes it one of the few genuine options for camping within walking distance of Melrose's centre, and the signposted path up the Eildon Hills starts close by. It also works well as a stopping point on longer Borders tours, given its proximity to the A68 and A7. The site's popularity during summer and around the Melrose Sevens rugby weekend in April means early booking is advisable at those times.

Fantastic caravan park, very quiet and peaceful, lots of little Bunnies hopping about, staff are super friendly and helpful, facilities spotless could do with a wee upgrade but perfectly adequate great enclosed dog walking area , large kids playground at entrance. 2min walk to high street, fabulous small independent shops, highly recommend local butchers best steak pie ever 😋

Situated right in the heart of Melrose, this is a smaller site that was always busy. Directly opposite the rugby club its important that you follow the directions on the club website/handbook. The route through the town centre is narrow and could be tricky if you meet something coming the other way. Showers were spotlessly clean, it's a coded entry, which the friendly wardens will give you upon arrival. The bollards have a TV hook up, which we didn't discover until almost the end of our holiday. There is a Co-Op store just yards away from the entrance and some lovely shops along the high street. We can heartily recommend The Ship Inn for food, club members get a discount on food. The Roman museum is really interesting and well laid out. The ruined Abbey is also worth a visit. The nearby gardens weren't at the best as we visited in early March, I'm sure they'll be better later in the year. Mary Queen of Scots house is in nearby Jedburgh, we really enjoyed visiting. Unfortunately the jail wasn't open until April, Edinburgh is about an hour away, use the park and ride sites to avoid the extortionate parking charges. If you are taking your car into the city, check that your vehicle meets the low emission requirements. A great site for exploring the Scottish borders.
