About Bowden House
Bowden House is a boutique bed and breakfast dating from the early nineteenth century, set in the small conservation village of Bowden around three miles from Melrose and directly on the route of St Cuthbert's Way. The house has picked up regional awards for its accommodation and welcome, run on a personal scale with just three ensuite bedrooms.
Each room is individually furnished, and the house's gardens and setting give views over the surrounding countryside towards the Eildon Hills. Breakfasts use local and home-grown produce where possible, served in a dining room that looks out over the garden, and the hosts are well versed in advising walkers heading out on St Cuthbert's Way or into Melrose.
Its position directly on the long-distance path makes Bowden House a natural stop for walkers, while its short distance from Melrose keeps the abbey, shops and restaurants easily reachable by car or a longer walk. It suits couples and walkers wanting a quiet village base over a town centre hotel.

Had a wonderful stay in this beautiful part of the world! House is fabulous, rooms so comfy & lovely welcoming touches! Breakfast was excellent!! Hosts Uta & Jason were so lovely, we can't wait to come back!

We had a great stay with Uta & Jason. Their house was beautiful and they were nothing but exceptionally kind and gracious hosts! We hope to return again one day and cant recommend this place enough for your stay.

As well as being a beautiful home, our stay here was like visiting friends: Uta and Jason could not have done more to make us feel welcome, comfortable, well-fed and informed of the local area (and beyond!). Thank you, we had a very special time.
