Rose Cottage

Photo: Rose Cottage Devon

Couples and small families after moorland walks will find Rose Cottage well placed. This single-storey cottage sits on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, with 15 acres of grounds to explore and direct access to some of Devon's best walking country. The nearby Teign Gorge and the park's own trails offer everything from gentle rambles to more serious hikes, and birdwatching and wildlife spotting are built into the landscape here.

Inside, you get a double bedroom, shower room, and a combined living and kitchen space where you can cook properly—there's an electric cooker, microwave and fridge. An electric woodburner takes the edge off cooler evenings. Wi-Fi, bed linen and towels are included; parking is on site for two cars. One dog travels free. The cottage is all on one level and accessed straightforwardly. A pub serving food is within walking distance, and Exeter—where there's much more to do—is 8 miles away. Note that there's a lake 50 yards from the property.

Our second time at this wonderful cottage, the first being 5 years ago, and it continues to impress. The cottage is that perfect blend of cosy cottage with the correct amount of well thought out mod-cons. The Millbrook Team do such an incredible job of welcoming you, setting the cottage up for our anniversary was lovely and we couldn't have asked for more. This place is perfect no matter your stay; great place if you want to go exploring, or perfect if you just want to disconnect from everything and lounge in front of the fire or in the hot tub.

We stayed at Rose Cottage for our wedding at Millbrook Estate and it was nothing short of magical. Tucked away in the peaceful North Devon countryside, it offered the perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and charm. What made our stay truly unforgettable were all the thoughtful little touches that made it feel like a real home from home. Walking in to the smell of freshly baked bread, a delicious cake waiting on the side, soft music playing, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere, it was just perfect. Alexa was set up throughout, making everything super easy and relaxing, and every detail had clearly been carefully thought out to create a calm and cosy escape. We were so touched to find a teddy left out for each of our children, such a kind and thoughtful gesture that made them feel special too. Bed guards had even been set up for us, which gave us complete peace of mind and made our stay so much easier as a family. Our wedding day agenda had even been printed and thoughtfully left out for us, such a lovely surprise and a really helpful touch that made everything feel that bit more personal and organised. The private hot tub was the ultimate treat. Every corner of the cottage was beautifully presented and incredibly clean, with everything we could have possibly needed and more. Rose Cottage is truly a hidden gem, and we would 100% recommend it to anyone looking for a romantic, peaceful getaway, especially if you're planning something as special as a wedding. We can’t wait to return!

Couldn't be more perfect. Welcomed by the lovely smell of fresh bread and some music playing. Attention to detail everywhere you looked and no expense spared! A very cute and cosy cottage with all the mod cons. The massive bath was a dream and the hot tub was too. The owners communicated well and were helpful. We walked around the Millbrook and loved seeing the alpacas. We would come here over and over again! Thank you!

Super nice cottage, I didn't stay as I just babysat for a few hours but this place was luxurious! The place was outstanding clean for an olddy worldy cottage with a thatched roof! The place is really set up really well for a just married couple and with a hot tub! ;-) it's in a nice location as well and the local little shop which closes at 6pm is well stocked for a little meal and it even sells wine and beer!
