Star Cottage dates to the 1500s, built as a hall house and now a Grade II listed building. The cottage retains period character throughout: exposed timber frames, low beam doorways, sloping floors and a fireplace marked with a witch's mark—traditionally carved to ward off evil. A wood burner sits in the living room for winter evenings, and the property includes initial logs.
The ground floor has a living room, separate dining room and sun room, plus a kitchen with electric cooking, utility room and toilet. Upstairs are three bedrooms: a double with an ensuite toilet, a single accessed via a curtain (rather than a door), and a family bedroom with both a double and single bed. One bathroom serves the property. Bed linen, towels, wifi and electricity are provided. The cottage sleeps six and is yours alone; parking is on road with unloading at the door, and there's a bike store. No smoking inside.
Stowmarket's town centre is within walking distance, with shops, cafes and pubs nearby—the Punch Bowl Inn is less than a mile away. The area has considerable historical interest. Children under five are not accommodated.
