Tents-only camping directly on the South Downs Way, 6 miles south of Midhurst

About Littleton Farm Campsite

Littleton Farm sits in a sheltered valley directly on the South Downs Way, offering tents-only camping that attracts a loyal following of walkers and cyclists. Pitches spread informally across the field rather than in regimented rows, and a car-free camping area keeps things peaceful and safe for families. Campfires are allowed on the grass, with logs available to buy, and there's open space for football, cricket and rounders.

Facilities stay true to the farm setting: two power showers in a converted dairy building, compost loos, and borehole drinking water with UV filtration. The onsite Cadence Cafe serves breakfast, sandwiches and coffee—handy since there's no shop. No electric hookup, caravans, motorhomes or dogs (livestock on site), and car parking is limited, needing advance arrangement. Some find the basic facilities a touch rustic, but for those after straightforward, rural camping within easy reach of Petworth and Goodwood, it delivers exactly what it promises.

We went to this campsite because I saw it was located in a very beautiful place. And I was not disappointed! The farm is situated in a valley of grass. In said valley you are granted to put up your tent anywhere you like! Every few meters there is a portapotty, a sink with tap water and fire extinguishers. Also, there is the possibility to light up a campfire. You can buy wood from the owner. For 10 pounds you get a bag, some kindling and firestarters. You can make the fire anywhere you like. What I also liked was the fact that we could park our motorcycles by the tent. This is very important for a biker! The shower is very basic but very good. The water has enough pressure and the heat it regulated easily. Next to the camping is a cafe where you can buy coffee, tea or breakfast. Very convenient!

Great campsite on south downs way. It's a large field in a valley, surroundings are very nice and it means even on a busy day you are not near other campers and have plenty of room to pitch your tents. Toilets are portaloos placed around the campsite, these were very clean. Showers were by the farm, only a curtain to divide between the showers, but they were never busy

Lovely campsite, reasonable price, campsite owner came around to sell firewood around 5/6pm (as advertised). A little bit hilly but that's part of the fun.

Fantastic setting - leaving you feeling like you have been submerged in a slice of heaven on the south downs. Facilities are basic but very clean. The friendly family are about to help twice a day to check in and keep you stocked with logs for a campfire - which is delightful whilst watching the bats at dusk and enjoying the stars/moon come out whilst listening to the owls and not a radio in sight! I really love the "car-free" aspect, after dropping your stuff off to your pitch you are asked to move it to the car park - which actually made the whole atmosphere much nicer and I suspect it is much cleaner. Always wonderfully surrounded by pheasants, who dart across the valley with a comedy about them that made my daughters and parents laugh alike. It can be a little tricky to first find; look out for the black signs for the coffee shop. Really beautiful countryside. Shall be visiting again and letting our friends know about this gem! Thank you for a grounding time!
