About The Cricketers, Duncton

The Cricketers sits in the small village of Duncton, on the A285 between Petworth and Chichester, in a building with 16th-century origins that has probably operated as an inn since the 1640s. It was formerly known as The Swan, and its large inglenook fireplace is a reminder of its long history serving travellers on this route beneath the Downs.

The inn offers rooms to rent alongside its restaurant and bar, and is well placed for visitors heading to Goodwood, whose racecourse and motor circuit sit in the hills just to the south. The kitchen runs seasonal menus built around Sussex game, fish and locally sourced sirloin, served in a traditional dining room alongside a broader pub menu.

A well-stocked bar with CAMRA-recommended real ales, a beer garden and a function room for private events round out the inn's appeal, and its position on the A285 makes it a convenient stop between Petworth and Chichester as well as a destination in its own right.

Only visited for lunch but it was fantastic. The coronation chicken burger and fish n chips were delicious. The mango and white choc cheesecake was so creamy and delicious as well! The inside of the pub is very cozy and traditional, and the beer garden is very spacious with a good mix of sunny and shaded areas. Well worth the trip, either to book or if you're passing through!

We have eaten here now four times as a large group to meet as a family half way between where we all live. What a fantastic friendly pub, I wish it was our local. The service is always excellent, the food really good pub food served cooked fresh and in huge portions. No problem accommodating meal swaps or requests. The pies always are homemade with delicious pastry and gravy which I could drink in a mug on its own! Thank you we will be back

Stopped there for lunch with friends, and I had the most amazing homemade steak and ale pie! Big, with proper chunks of beef and vegetables. Location is great, with the garden overlooking the forest and a small stream, not expensive and very beautiful pub!
