About The Old Ship Aground
The Old Ship Aground sits directly on Minehead's harbourside on Quay Street, in a building dating from 1911 that was originally known as The Pier Hotel. Its position gives many rooms and the pub itself a direct view over the working harbour, where fishing boats still come and go.
The inn has 12 en-suite bedrooms of varying sizes above a busy pub and restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a strong emphasis on locally landed seafood. Free parking and Wi-Fi are included, and the setting makes it a natural base for anyone wanting to be close to the water.
From the harbour it is a short, level walk to Minehead's beach, seafront and the start of the South West Coast Path, making the Old Ship Aground popular with walkers as well as those simply after a characterful place to stay by the sea.

Beautiful location overlooking the harbour. Very good food, reasonably priced with daily specials board. Excellent choice of regional ales and ciders. Great ambience, very friendly and helpful staff. Didn't have a room on this occasion but have stayed previously and will do again. Free parking outside and after 18.00 in nearby roads. Love this place, would advise booking a table as gets very busy.

Spent a week here and lots of positives. Single room surprisingly spacious, ample storage, large ensuite, good shower, very clean, very comfy bed, beautiful white sheets and fluffy towels. Staff very friendly and attentive. Delicious breakfasts and pub meals were excellent. Quiet location at start of South West Coast Path, ideal for walking holidays - 10 minutes walk along the seafront there are buses in several directions, plus local walks up to the cliffs. WiFi is available but is NOT secure. Coffee and biscuits renewed daily. A couple of negatives - Room 10 faces north so could do with brighter decor to replace the drab dark turquoise walls. The aircon unit from the cellars is on the wall below the room window and runs on/off 24/7 causing disturbance if you are a light sleeper. Maybe double glazing would solve this? The whole property is dated, but has that quirky old fashioned comfortable hotel/pub feel. Refurbishment is planned - hopefully not too drastic. A very relaxed place and I would stay again (but not Room 10)

Absolutley love this restaurant at the end of the harbour. Nice quiet little area with ample parking. The large hotel room 9 had a beautiful harbour view, with a wonderful extra large comfortable bed. The food on the evening was beautifully cooked and good value for money. Just a 10 minute walk into a lovely town, plenty of things to do in the local area, from castles to long walks and the railway station. We have stayed here before and will definatley stay here again.

Had a lovely meal this afternoon the food was superb. We had 2 lamb tagines and 2 chicken currys, we also had desserts which were lovely. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel very welcome. All the staff were very attentive and helpful to us. We are down here on holiday what a great place for food.
