About Links Hotel

The Links Hotel occupies an extended Victorian family home built in the 1800s for the Paton family, owners of a local mill, and stands on the historic Montrose Mid Links between two golf courses and the town's long sandy beach. It is only a few minutes' walk from the High Street, giving guests an easy choice between a quiet, leafy setting and full access to the town centre.

Thirty-six bedrooms run from classic rooms to executive rooms and a junior suite, and the hotel's restaurant and grill room serve Scottish and continental dishes alongside a cocktail bar and an outdoor terrace. A separate coffee shop opens through the day for lighter refreshments, and the hotel also handles functions and small conferences.

Guests regularly praise the kitchen and the warmth of the staff, and the hotel's position makes it a popular choice for golfing parties visiting Montrose's historic links course as well as couples wanting a comfortable, characterful base a short stroll from the sea.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Links Hotel. Staff were really good, room was excellent, bed was very comfortable and I can’t think of anything wrong with the room at all! However, the standout for us were the meals in the restaurant which were just wonderful. The quality of the food, taste, seasoning were just perfect and would not have been out of place in a top end restaurant. Absolutely excellent!

Unpleasant Experience Stayed on a Saturday night in advance of a golf comp Sunday at Montrose Links. Checked in about 730pm and was a bit confused when opened my room door and the curtains closed. Opened them and turned round to see the bedsheets in a crumpled heap how the previous resident had left them. I thought they were fully booked..... and after that I questioned whether I should ask for a refund. Quite a curt reply to say another room would be found. Felt too late to try elsewhere. The other room initially looked ok and at least appeared it had been "serviced"..... Though a guy on the stairs was overheard saying their room hadn't been serviced..... Not sure if mid stay or pre stay. Found a large long hair on the pillow but decided it wasn't worth saying anything as had no other options. The sheets seemed fresh so maybe just a housemaids hair. Glad I travel with pillow cases though. Slept on top of the bedcovers fully clothed just in case and left by just after 6am in the morning. P.s. Opened the window to see a broken window handle on the flat roof outside my room (24) and two used casings for hypodermic needles (got the photos) Unsure whether there were innocent reasons.... though that might be being a bit overly positive. Understandably didn't sleep overly well.
