Beach Bay Cottage sits on the edge of Uig Bay on the Isle of Lewis, a stretch of white sand backed by the rolling landscape of the Outer Hebrides. The single-storey stone cottage is built into the hillside and opens directly onto the beach—less than 110 yards from the door. It's a quiet, remote spot, though a whisky distillery lies within walking distance and a community shop is three miles away.

The cottage sleeps four in two bedrooms: a king bed with en-suite shower room, and a zip-and-link twin room with en-suite. The second bathroom contains a spa bath and separate shower cubicle. The open-plan living space has a multi-fuel burner, patio doors onto a dining terrace, and a kitchen equipped for self-catering, with a dishwasher and washing machine included. A sauna and Jacuzzi bath complete the amenities. Bed linen, towels, wi-fi and heating are provided.

The bay attracts artists, photographers and birdwatchers. Walking, cycling, surfing, fishing and sea kayaking are possible nearby; boat trips to St Kilda and other excursions operate seasonally. The area suits both active holidays and quieter escapes. No smoking inside the property.

We absolutely loved spending 2 weeks this July at Beach Bay. The accommodation is superb, so well kitted out with everything you need. But it's the stunning views which really make this place something very special. Following the ebb and flow of the tide and observing the local wildlife was all the entertainment we really needed. It was also great to learn about the crofting culture of this region. Amazing beaches and dramatic cliffs all on your doorstep. Well stocked local shop and everything you need including great fish and meat an hour away in Stornoway (and such a lovely drive) and of course locally distilled whisky just a 10 minute walk away.

A great stay here in March. We were blessed with the weather and the peace and tranquility of it all was perfect for an escape. Location is a good base for heading on days out to explore Lewis and Harris. Views from the front window and unrivalled, spoiled for scenery. Absolutely would stay again.

Our time at Beach Bay Cottage was probably the best family holiday we have ever had. Right from the day we booked, George helped us with all the local information and advice on ferry's etc all of which helped towards a really great experience. The setting and accomodation is light years beyond anything else out there, it was just absolutely wonderful. So much so, we have already booked for next year! Thank you once again for allowing us to experience your amazing home, and for helping us to create some special memories with our children. Phil & Jan Mack
