Carnish Byre stands alone on the southwestern tip of Lewis, where the landscape opens onto Uig Sands—a sweep of white beach that feels far removed from everyday life. This single-bedroom property, finished to high standards, offers a kingsize bed and an en-suite bathroom with a copper roll-top bath. The essentials are covered: electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wifi keep you comfortable, though no smoking is permitted inside.
The setting here is genuinely remote. From the property you look straight out to the beach; the road essentially ends nearby. Walking the sands themselves takes minutes. The Uig Hills offer trails inland, while longer expeditions lead across Lewis and Harris—including sections of the Hebridean Way. The Callanish Stones, Blackhouse Village and Butt of Lewis lighthouse are all within reach by car, as is Stornoway for restaurants and provisions. Harris, connected by road to the south, has its own beaches and rocky coastline to explore. Those interested in fishing, hillwalking or surfing will find the area particularly rewarding. Arrival is after 16:30; departure before 09:30.
