Midgham Farm - Oak Cabin
New Forest
The New Forest's network of bridleways and footpaths starts practically at the gate of Midgham Farm, making this a genuine base for outdoor exploration rather than just accommodation. Lyndhurst, Brockenhurst and Beaulieu are all within reach for shops, pubs and the Forest's visitor attractions. A working farm setting with ancient woodland on the boundary means the cabin sits genuinely isolated, yet you're not cut off—just removed enough that the outside world feels distant.
Oak Cabin is a detached wooden structure sleeping six across two bedrooms and one bathroom. Downstairs, the open-plan living and dining area centres on a wood-burning stove; the kitchen is fully equipped for cooking. Upstairs, a galleried room holds two singles. Heating, electricity, Wi-Fi, bed linen and towels are all included, as is the wood for the burner. A firepit, seated terrace and barbecue are in the grounds. One dog stays free. The cabin is non-smoking.
This works for families wanting to base themselves in the Forest for a week of walking and cycling, or couples after a quiet break with immediate access to woodland. The rural location means you need transport to reach shops and restaurants, but that's the point—it's the trade-off for having the trees to yourself.
