The Wheelwrights Post - Walnut Tree Cottage

Walnut Tree Cottage is a detached thatched property on the edge of Fordingbridge, positioned across from working forest footpaths. The building dates from a time when the adjoining house operated as a wheelwright's workshop, post office and bakery; the cottage itself sits within the owner's lawned grounds alongside two other holiday lets. It's a one-bed, one-bathroom property sleeping up to four, though the upstairs sofa bed is designed for children.

Downstairs holds the kitchen and shower room; upstairs, a separate living area with the sofa bed leads through to a king-size bedroom. The kitchen is properly equipped for self-catering, and storage heaters keep things warm. Bed linen and towels are provided, along with electricity. There's parking for two cars on site, and a shed for storing bikes. No smoking throughout.

Fordingbridge itself is about a mile away, with shops, cafés and the River Avon. Walkers step straight onto New Forest paths; cyclists can take advantage of nearby water park and country park facilities. The location works equally well as a base for exploring the wider area or simply for being close to forest trails.
