About The New Northumbria Hotel
The New Northumbria occupies a run of red brick Victorian townhouses at 61 Osborne Road, in the middle of Jesmond's small restaurant and bar quarter. It has been independently run for many years and sits somewhere between a large guest house and a small hotel, with around 55 rooms spread through the linked buildings. The scale means it keeps a personal feel that the city-centre chains cannot match.
Bedrooms are straightforward and comfortable rather than designed, with free wi-fi, flat-screen televisions with satellite channels, tea and coffee facilities and en suite bathrooms. Because the rooms are carved out of several period houses, sizes and layouts vary a good deal - some are generous with bay windows onto Osborne Road, others are tucked into the older parts of the building. Family rooms are available. Continental breakfast is served each morning, and there is a bar and lounge downstairs.
Jesmond itself is much of the attraction. Osborne Road has a long line of independent restaurants, delis and pubs, the wooded valley of Jesmond Dene is a short walk north, and the whole suburb is quieter and greener than the centre while still being fully connected to it. Weekends can be busy on the street below, so ask for a rear-facing room if that matters.
Getting into Newcastle takes no effort. West Jesmond and Jesmond Metro stations are both about five minutes on foot and the ride to Monument takes a few minutes; walking into the centre takes around twenty. The airport is a fifteen-minute drive, Central Station five, and there is parking available, which makes this a practical choice for anyone touring Northumberland by car and using Newcastle as a base.

We only stayed for one night with our Newfoundland dog but will definitely be back. The room was really big with tea and coffee and a lovely bathroom with big towels. Not a single fuss was made about the dog being so large the staff on the front desk were lovely. We had to pay an extra ten pounds for the dog which bookings. com failed to mention but to be honest well worth the money. Lovely location too.

Nice little hotel. Good size rooms that were spotless. Lovely to have a bath and a shower for those who enjoy a relaxing soak after work or shopping. Staff were very helpful. Only bugbear was the size of the lift, which could only fit one person and two large suitcases. If anyone had not shut the door properly on another floor the lift would be stuck there. Would recommend this hotel for leisure.

Rooms are relatively large. The hotel spans across and has multiple sections and steps. My room was very quiet but I would expect some to be louder especially near the bar. bathroom was ok. Service friendly and quick. The hotel is a bit dated and can do with a bit of maintenance. Floors creek a lot. Overall nice stay.

We had an amazing time for our valentine's night break. The hotel was awesome, mixing modern furnishings with the period property to create a brilliant atmosphere. The room was very clean and tidy with a comfy bed. We also had a meal in the joined restaurant which was fantastic too.
