About The Cridford Inn

Dartmoor National Park and the South Devon coast are both within easy reach of The Cridford Inn, making it a handy base for walking, cycling or simply exploring the surrounding countryside. Golf and fishing are also close by, and the local area has its share of pubs, restaurants and eateries for those who fancy venturing further afield between excursions.

Back at the inn itself, rooms are clean and comfortable with en-suite bathrooms, and the atmosphere leans cosy rather than grand, helped along by log-burning stoves in the colder months. The restaurant is a particular strength, serving freshly cooked food including some unusual medieval-inspired dishes alongside a solid choice for vegetarians, and kids' meals are available for family stays. Breakfast is included, and there's a bar and outdoor seating for a quieter drink.

Staff are attentive and professional throughout, and practical extras include free WiFi, 24-hour reception, drinks brought to the room, and free on-site parking. Pets are welcome too, making it a straightforward stopover for those touring Devon with the family dog in tow.

Beautiful historic old pub with proper charm, range of beer and great service. I think it’s over 700 yrs old in parts. We stopped for dinner, had the humus starter, seasonal greens and the veggie tagliatelle, the tagliatelle was tasty but very much three meals in one, pasta, ragu, vegan sausage, suggest they turn the sausage into meatballs and cook them in the ragu for a more joined up dish. Also had a dessert, very tasty crumble and sticky toffee. Very shabby chic pub and very unkempt outside, just needs a sweep and refresh on the garden and roses. Really helpful welcoming young staff member.

We had the most delicious meal with such an awesome variety of medieval recipe options! What a treat. And the warmth of the service was so welcoming. We are going to become VIP members and can’t wait to come back again!

Used Gemini Ai to find me a lunch spot and it suggested The Cridford Inn if I wanted somewhere out the ordinary. Read up on the history of the area and looked on their website and saw they did unique meals from their long history. So we went for lunch and had the Queen Elizabeth I Beef Stew. Thoroughly enjoyed the stew, eating it in such a historic building added to the experience, it’s like stepping back in time. The inn and its grounds are an amazing place.

We stayed at The Cridford Inn, in ‘The Burrow’, for 2 nights. The room was lovely and clean! All of the food we had (breakfasts and dinners) were very good, especially the battered cod. It is clear the owners, Ness and Paul, have put a lot of effort into making the experience great. They were very attentive. There are some beautiful places to visit near by. We would definitely visit again!
