Anchorage Cottage

Lamlash sits on the eastern shore of the Isle of Arran, a village where the bay curves round Holy Isle and the hills rise steeply inland. Anchorage Cottage is a bungalow set back from the beach, its decking facing across the water. From the front door to the sand takes barely a minute on foot; the driveway is only 50 yards long. The cottage sleeps 6 across three bedrooms: a king and an ensuite, two singles, and a bunk room. There are two bathrooms. Everything is on the ground floor, with one step to the entrance.

The living room has French doors onto the decking, where the shelter makes outdoor meals possible even in poor weather. A second sitting room has a TV and DVD player; the kitchen is large enough for proper cooking, with an electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher and all the usual kit. An enclosed garden runs around the property with an open area to the front. Bed linen, towels, wi-fi and heating are included; there is parking for three cars and a bike store. Smoking is not permitted.

Lamlash has a golf club and yacht club. Brodick, the island's main town, is a short drive away. The hospital is nearby if needed. Families with young children will find a travel cot and highchair available.
