Back Row Bothy
North Ayrshire
Catacol sits on Arran's northwest coast, a village of whitewashed cottages yards from the beach where golden eagles, otters and red deer are regularly seen. Back Row Bothy is a single-storey property positioned behind one of the Apostles, the distinctive row of listed buildings that gives the place its character. One bedroom with a double bed, a shower room, and a combined living and kitchen space make up the whole property to yourself, with a patio garden and on-road parking outside.
The kitchen is equipped for cooking rather than basic heating—electric oven, hob, microwave, and an air fryer are all there. Heating, electricity, wi-fi, bed linen and towels are included. A record player in the living room and a television in both rooms are standard. The location opens onto several walking routes: a burn-side path towards Loch Tanna, a longer trek through Gleann Easan Biorach to Lochranza Distillery, or the Postman's Walk over the hill back towards the coast. Glen Catacol itself sits directly behind the village, as does a National Nature Reserve home to three endangered tree species found almost nowhere else on earth. One dog is welcome here, and smoking is not permitted inside.
