Dunmaghlas is a detached cottage built at the water's edge in Pirnmill, with the shingle beach just metres away. The house has four bedrooms across two floors, a bathroom, and a wood-burning stove in the living room. A conservatory extends into the garden, where you'll find views across Kilbrannan Sound towards Kintyre, particularly striking at sunset. The property sits on its own with a small stream running through the garden, which is accessible from the house.

The ground floor contains the living room with its fire and television, a separate dining room, and a well-fitted kitchen with electric cooker, dishwasher and washing machine. Upstairs are four bedrooms: one double, one double, two singles in one room, and a single. There is one bathroom with a bath and shower. A travel cot and highchair are available if needed. Electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are included; initial fuel for the fire is provided. One dog stays free.

Pirnmill has a shop and restaurant a quarter-mile away. Lochranza lies nearby with further amenities, a distillery, and a ferry to Kintyre. The Isle of Arran itself offers walking, golf, wildlife watching and history, from Bronze Age stone circles to Brodick Castle. No smoking throughout.

We had a fantastic week at Dunmaghlas, house was really well supplied, with all kitchenware our large family could want. The house was clean and cosy, the garden well cared for. We had 2 dogs and they were well cared for (just follow the house rules), with spare dog towels (just clean before leaving). The house is in a beautiful location, the beach across the road is lovely for walking and/ or a chilly swim. You're never far from anywhere on Arran, but it's about 40 minutes from Brodick and a big Co-op. The local shop in Pirnmill is well stocked. We saw seals on the rocks just a few miles south. Arran is beautiful and don't be out off this is the quiet side of the island. A car is very useful, but there is a regular bus service. I would definitely recommend Dunhaghlas.

This is one of the very best holiday homes we have ever rented. Lots of inside and outside space, dog friendly and a beach across the road. We have stopped here twice and it has been brilliant both times
