Ivy Cottage suits families wanting a base near the coast, couples after a quieter retreat, or small groups looking for their own space. The stone-built property has three bedrooms—a single downstairs and two upstairs with sloping ceilings—along with one bathroom and can sleep five. One well-behaved dog stays free. The cottage is yours alone, with parking for one car on site and wi-fi throughout. Essentials like bed linen, towels and electricity are covered; initial logs for the wood burner are provided too.
Downstairs, the open-plan living and dining room has a wood burner for cooler evenings, TV and DVD player, and opens to a small patio with garden seating overlooking fields. The kitchen is equipped for everyday cooking. Upstairs, the two bedrooms share the character of low beamed ceilings. A cot and highchair are available if needed. The cottage sits half a mile from Whiting Bay, close enough to walk down mostly downhill to a convenience store, post office, café, restaurant, bar and beach. The real draw is Glenashdale Falls on the doorstep—a straightforward walk that leads into forestry tracks heading towards Lamlash or Kildonan. The walk back uphill to the cottage is steeper but manageable. No smoking indoors.
