Violet Cottage is a 17th-century thatched building in the heart of Holt, a traditional Broadland village. The whole property is yours alone, arranged on a single level with ground-floor access via eight steps. Two bedrooms sleep four: one with a double bed and another with two singles. A shower room, living and dining space, and kitchen complete the layout. An open fire in the inglenook warms the main room on cooler evenings, and essentials like bed linen, towels, heating and electricity are included.
The kitchen has what you need to self-cater – electric cooker, microwave, fridge and washing machine. Outside, a large enclosed garden with furniture provides a private outdoor space, and parking for one car is on site. One dog is welcome. The cottage sits close to a pub serving food and the Old Reading Room Tea Room & Gallery, both within easy reach.
Holt makes a good base for exploring Broadland. Hickling Broad nature reserve is 4 miles away, and the Norfolk coast at Sea Palling roughly 5 miles, with its sandy beaches and coastal walks. For something different, boat hire is available at Potter Heigham. No smoking inside.
