About Broom House at Egton Bridge

Broom House sits a quarter of a mile from the village of Egton Bridge, deep in the Esk Valley and about eight miles inland from Whitby. It is a family home first and a guest house second, with seven en-suite rooms, a breakfast room that opens onto a long garden and a guest lounge with an open fire, board games and an honesty bar.

Breakfast is the strong suit, built around local eggs, Whitby kippers and bread baked on the premises, and the owners are a reliable source of advice on which moorland paths are worth doing in which weather. The Good Hotel Guide has listed it among its best British boltholes and it holds a long run of Tripadvisor awards.

Egton Bridge is a genuinely good place to be stranded. The Esk Valley Line stops in the village, which means you can take the train to Grosmont, connect onto the steam railway and get back without moving the car. The village has two pubs, the annual Gooseberry Show in August, and stepping stones across the river. Whitby, Goathland and the northern moors are all within twenty minutes.

We had a wonderful 2 night stay at Broom House for a wedding in the area. Luke and Bri were wonderful hosts, nothing was to much for them. The B&B is Beautifully decorated, extremely well looked after and very clean all over. So many lovely small touches like an honesty mini bar in the lounge area and breakfast menu to pick from.! We had the best stay and cant wait to return. Thank you!! Gaby & Mike

We stayed in the cottage suite for 3 nights this week. Such a fabulous stay. Luke and Bri are the best hosts. Wonderful location with the coast and moors easily accessible and so much to do nearby. Recommend the upgrade for the cottage suite if available and you can stretch to that - really homely and comfortable. The Broom house is thoroughly recommended 😄

Wow. A short and simple word but sums up our stay at Broom House. Brianne and Luke couldn’t be better hosts, we were met at the car and had help with our bags to the top floor, quite a hike!! Nothing was too much trouble We stayed in attic room six with a stunning view and the Esk Valley railway at the end of the garden. The location is superb with Whitby only fifteen minutes aways and the rest of the North York Moors at your fingertips. The guest lounge is a delight and drinks outside in the garden is a wonderful way to end your day. A great choice of breakfast options and the full English was delicious. The only downside to the few days away is that we had to leave !!

We loved our stay in their 'cottage' a self contained duplex suite attached to the main house where breakfast is served. Really pleasant and helpful hosts.
