Cherry Garth

Families and larger groups will find Cherry Garth works well for a week away in North Yorkshire. The detached cottage has four bedrooms spread across two floors: a kingsize with ensuite on the ground floor, a double, three singles, and a single on the first floor, with two bathrooms between them. There's space to spread out, and practical touches like a travel cot, highchair and stairgate are provided. One dog is welcome here, to be kept on a lead in this sheep country.

The layout centres on a wood-burning stove in the living room, which opens onto a sun room running the full width of the front. The kitchen is fitted with an electric oven, hob, dishwasher and all the basics for self-catering. Electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are included; initial logs for the stove are supplied. An enclosed garden wraps around the property with seating areas, and there's parking for three cars on site. No smoking throughout.

Goathland village is within walking distance, known to Heartbeat fans as Aidensfield and to Harry Potter fans for its steam railway station. The North York Moors National Park spreads out nearby with marked trails and cycle routes at all difficulty levels. The coast at Whitby is accessible for a day out.
