Helena
North Yorkshire
Helena works well for families and larger groups wanting their own space to spread out. The six-bedroom house, built around 1880 and recently renovated, occupies three floors in Goathland village. One dog can stay free, though it must be kept on a lead in this sheep-farming area. There is parking for four cars on site and an enclosed garden with seating and a barbecue.
Downstairs holds a living room with an open fire, separate dining room, and a kitchen fitted with an Aga, electric oven and hob, dishwasher, and all the usual appliances for cooking from scratch. A utility room has a washing machine and tumble dryer. The first floor contains three bedrooms: one kingsize with an ensuite bathroom, and two rooms with single beds each. A shared bathroom serves those rooms. The second floor offers two more kingsize bedrooms (one with its own shower room) and a third bedroom with two single beds and access to another shower room. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and electricity are included; initial logs for the wood burner come with the house. A travel cot, highchair and stairgate are available on request.
Goathland is within reach of North York Moors walking routes and the steam railway that runs to Whitby, Grosmont and Pickering. The village itself has tea rooms, restaurants and shops. No smoking is permitted indoors.
