Driftwood at Whitehall

North Yorkshire

Whitby's working harbour is the backdrop here. From Driftwood at Whitehall, a first-floor apartment carved from a grand Georgian building, you look out over the water where fishing boats still operate and shipyard activity continues—the same stretch of harbour that has defined this town for centuries. The iconic abbey sits on the headland across the water. A ten-minute walk downhill takes you into Whitby's centre, past the traditional pubs and chip shops that line the route.

The apartment sleeps four across two bedrooms: a double and two singles. There is one bathroom with a bath and shower. The open-plan living and dining space is positioned to make the most of those views, and the kitchen is properly equipped if you want to cook—electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher and the rest. Essentials including heating, wi-fi, bed linen and towels are provided. One dog is welcome to stay at no extra cost. Parking is private, for one car.

The building's history runs deep—it was once owned by a shipbuilding family—and that character still shows in the period details around the communal entrance. Access is via an external staircase with 13 steps to the main door. Non-smoking throughout.
