Farndale Apartment

North Yorkshire

View on Google Maps

Commondale sits in the North York Moors, a village where the pub is yards from the front door and Commondale station connects you to Whitby and Middlesbrough by train. Farndale Apartment occupies the first floor of a converted schoolhouse, a red brick building now divided into holiday lets. The whole place is yours alone, with parking for one car on what used to be the school playground.

Inside, everything is on one level. The open-plan living and dining area looks out over moorland, with an electric fire and Freeview television; the kitchen has a cooker, microwave and dishwasher for cooking together. There are two bedrooms—one with a double bed, one with two singles—and a shower room. Essentials like electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wifi are included, along with a washing machine and tumble dryer in the utility room (shared with other apartments). One dog is welcome provided it stays on a lead; this is sheep country. A shared garden at the front has a bench for morning tea with views across the moors. The village itself is typical of the area—quiet, set among open countryside, with the pub as its social centre and walking routes leading into the surrounding hills.
