Flowergate House
North Yorkshire
Flowergate House is a three-storey penthouse apartment rising above Whitby's harbour. The layout spreads across two floors: the second floor contains the main living space—an open-plan room with kitchen, dining and sitting areas—plus two bedrooms and a bathroom; the third floor is a third bedroom with its own ensuite toilet. The property sleeps six across a kingsize bed, two single beds, one single bed, and a pull-out single bed, with space for a cot and highchair if needed. Electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included, and gas central heating keeps things warm. The kitchen is equipped for cooking proper meals, with an oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. A freeview Smart TV, DVDs and board games are on hand for quieter evenings.
From almost every room, you look out across the water and roofscape towards Whitby's most recognisable landmarks—the lighthouse, the pier, and the ruins of the abbey on the cliff top. This elevation gives the place a genuine sense of being separate from the bustle of the town below, though it remains steps away from the cobbled old town with its independent shops, cafés and pubs. St Mary's Church and Whitby Abbey are a climb of 199 steps from here; the harbour holds a replica of HMS Endeavour; and coastal walks lead to Saltwick Bay and beyond. The nearest public car park is within walking distance and operates on a pay-and-display basis. No smoking inside the property.
