About Resolution Hotel

Whitby's clifftop Abbey and the winding lanes of the old town are within easy walking distance of Resolution Hotel, making it a practical base for exploring the harbour, the beach and the coastal paths that lead out of town. Cyclists and walkers have routes right on the doorstep, and those who fancy fishing, golf or watersports will find options nearby too, alongside a good spread of pubs and restaurants for evenings out.

The hotel itself has 31 rooms, each en-suite with air conditioning and complimentary drinks, and guests consistently find them clean, well-proportioned and comfortably furnished. There's a restaurant and bar on site, plus a snack bar for something lighter, and breakfast comes with a wide enough choice to set guests up properly for a day on the coast. Kids' meals are available for families, and a lift makes moving between floors straightforward.

Practical extras include free WiFi, luggage storage and an electric vehicle charge point, with parking permits provided for guests - though parking in the area itself can be tight at busier times. Staff are frequently described as friendly and ready to help, which counts for a lot in a town built around narrow streets and steep steps down to the harbour.

Resolution Hotel named after one of Captain Cook’s ships. The hotel is well decorated and furnished with appropriate nod to that. Our twin room 203 suited us, with one bay sash window overlooking Flowergate and another on Skinner Street. Good beds and kettle and tea’s & coffees. We booked breakfast which was excellent - no patisserie but real food! Big bowl of fresh fruit salad and beans on toast

The hotel its self is lovely the staff was really nice and helpful. The restaurant Venus the food was gorgeous and the staff in the restaurant was amazing! The only things was in our room 101 the bath tv didn’t work the first night and the bath overflow was broke so couldn’t use it the first night so had the handy man come the next day which he fixed the bath and the tv in the bath but then later on the bath tv then had no sound. Also the walls must be really thin as we was woken up both mornings by what I think was people taking showers in the next room the running water/pipes was so loud we was woken up at 6:30am one morning then 7:15 the next. Which was disappointing as we came as a couple without our children so was looking forward to a lie in, we did report and was given ear plugs but there not comfy to sleep in. The place itself is beautiful and the staff was so friendly.

Lovely hotel. Clean & tidy rooms. Difficult parking but they give out parking discs for on-street free parking within certain zones. Had to park 100mtrs away but I will say this is the only negative. Reception staff were really helpful. Great location in centre of Whitby
