Marske Hall Country Estate - Woodcutters Cottage
North Yorkshire
The countryside around Richmond holds plenty of appeal for a break in North Yorkshire—rolling hills, market towns, and the Dales within reach—but Marske Hall Country Estate offers something particular: a whole property converted from the estate's former sawmill, now a luxury retreat with contemporary fittings throughout. Woodcutters Cottage sits on the ground floor, arranged around an open-plan living and dining space that retains the industrial character of its past. The most striking detail is the glazed floor panel set into the dining area, exposing the original pit where the circular saw once operated.
Three kingsize bedrooms, each with its own ensuite bathroom, provide sleeping space for six. One ensuite has a bath with shower over; the other two offer walk-in showers. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering—oven, hob, dishwasher, microwave and coffee machine included—and electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are covered in your stay. Underfloor heating keeps the cottage warm, and there is parking for three cars on site, plus an electric charging point if needed. One well-behaved pet can come with you at no extra cost. The property does not permit smoking.
The location works well for families wanting a base to explore the surrounding countryside, or groups of friends after a comfortable retreat with genuine historical interest built into its bones.
