Whitby's Esk Valley offers a quieter side to the North Yorkshire coast. Millinder House - The Byre is a single-storey converted farmstead with views across the dale and the North York Moors beyond. The cottage sits on grounds that include a small stream, lawned garden with patio seating, and access to three acres of shared woodland; a pub lies within a mile if you'd rather eat out.

Inside, three bedrooms accommodate up to six people: a king bedroom with ensuite, two single rooms (one with an additional pull-out single), and a separate bathroom with walk-in shower and accessibility features including a grab rail and shower seat. The open-plan ground floor combines living, dining and kitchen spaces around a multi-fuel stove. You get everything needed to cook properly—oven, hob, dishwasher—plus wi-fi, parking on site, and the essentials of bed linen and towels covered. One dog stays free. The property is yours alone; there's no smoking inside.

Lovely get away place. If peace and quiet in a stunning location is what you want then this is ideal. Downsides, it's a bit off the beaten track and there's no views from the windows but other than that it's great.

Got back from a Monday-friday stay 11-15th April feeling relaxed and re-freshed. Absolutely beautiful cottage in a lovely quiet, peaceful part of the countryside. Cottage was well presented and well furnished and maintained, had everything we needed for an enjoyable break. The only downside was the noise from the above annexe but wasn't too intrusive, certainly didn't spoil our stay. Our dogs thoroughly enjoyed their stay and loved exploring the countryside .
