The Carthouse is a converted farm building dating back two centuries, now a single-storey cottage occupying the ground floor of a detached barn. It sleeps two in a king bed, with a wet room and underfloor heating throughout. The open-plan living space combines a sitting area with a kitchen equipped for self-catering, plus a dining zone. One dog stays free of charge.
The property sits within the North York Moors National Park near Whitby, surrounded by open countryside with a stream running through the grounds. Ayriel Studios is nearby. A shared three-acre woodland with picnic benches is available to guests, as is a communal laundry room. Parking is on site. A pub is within a mile. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen and towels are all provided; a travel cot and high chair are available if needed. The area works well for walking, or as a base to explore the Yorkshire coast and nearby villages. Smoking is not permitted.

Lovely get away place. If peace and quiet in a stunning location is what you want then this is ideal. Downsides, it's a bit off the beaten track and there's no views from the windows but other than that it's great.

Got back from a Monday-friday stay 11-15th April feeling relaxed and re-freshed. Absolutely beautiful cottage in a lovely quiet, peaceful part of the countryside. Cottage was well presented and well furnished and maintained, had everything we needed for an enjoyable break. The only downside was the noise from the above annexe but wasn't too intrusive, certainly didn't spoil our stay. Our dogs thoroughly enjoyed their stay and loved exploring the countryside .
