Skellgill House

You step into a proper farmhouse with high ceilings, stone fireplaces and the kind of space that lets everyone spread out. Skellgill House has three bedrooms—a double and two singles upstairs, another double on the ground floor—plus two bathrooms, so seven guests can avoid queuing. Downstairs there's a sitting room with an open fire for cold nights, a separate dining room with original stonework and beamed ceilings, and a kitchen equipped for cooking from scratch. The essentials—heating, electricity, linen, towels and wifi—are all included.

Outside is where the property gets its character. A stream meanders through the cottage garden, with lawn and seating areas where you can actually sit and watch the landscape. There's parking for two cars and space to store bikes. One well-behaved pet stays free. The house sits in a genuinely rural part of the Yorkshire Dales, but isn't cut off—a pub is half a mile away, and a shop just over a mile, so you're not reliant on the car for everything. No smoking indoors.
