Swallowholm is a converted miner's cottage set in a small hamlet in Arkengarthdale, surrounded by open moorland. Two bedrooms and one bathroom make it suitable for a couple or family of four, and one well-behaved pet is welcome. The whole property is yours alone, with private parking and a sitting-out area where you can look across the Dales.
Downstairs, the living and dining room has a woodburner, freeview television and DVD player. The kitchen is equipped for cooking and includes a dishwasher and washing machine. Upstairs are a double bedroom and a twin, plus the bathroom with bath and shower. Bed linen and towels are provided, along with wi-fi and heating; initial fuel for the woodburner is included. A cot and high chair are available if needed, and there is a 24-hour drying service if you need it.
An 18th-century inn lies within a mile on foot, serving cask ales and local food. Reeth, four miles away, has pubs, shops and cafes; Richmond, with its castle, Georgian theatre and museum, is a short drive further. The location suits walkers, riders and fishermen, with the Lake District and York both within reach.
