Whitby's working harbour, ruined abbey and narrow medieval streets draw visitors year-round. The Boathouse Nook sits one street back from the restaurants and bars, far enough for quiet but close enough to reach everything on foot. The apartment occupies the first floor as your own self-contained space.

Inside, an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area with a bay window forms the heart of the place. The kitchen is fitted out for cooking proper meals—oven, hob, fridge, microwave, kettle and coffee machine all there. A fireplace anchors the room and provides real heat on cold nights. The single bedroom contains a king-size bed with quality linen, plus substantial storage. One bathroom serves the property. Electricity, bed linen and towels are included; you'll need to arrange any parking permits from local shops.

Beaches lie within a mile, and the Whalebone Arch, abbey ruins and steep cobbled streets are all within easy reach. The seafront itself, dotted with fish restaurants and independent shops, is a short walk away. No smoking inside the property.

All good excellent views, good facilities from within, spiral staircase a little challenging for big people or perhaps those with not the greatest mobility. Other than that 10 out of 10, onnie saying that as I bopped my head a few times and I had to listen to the wife gripe about her iffy knee.

We loved the boathouse. It was spotlessly clean, quirky yet modern, the kitchen downstairs was VERY well equipped for self catering . Lots of cupboards full of pots, pans, plates, glasses of every type. and drawers full of cooking utensils. we bought food /drinks from the big co op supermarket a few minutes walk from the boathouse. There were 10 spiral stairs up to the bedroom and bathroom. well thought out for guests comfort . extra pillows etc.. the lounge on the ground floor was lovely .(the heating switch and deck light behind lounge curtains) We spent most of our 3 day stay on the outside deck with amazing views even when its dark. The deck was clean tidy and safe , maybe not showroom perfect but its a house ON the beach surrounded by water or sand depending on tide times. so a bit of wear and tear is expected. We struggled to change channels on the tv and knew we could phone the owners to talk us through it but we chose not to as tv wasnt important to us . Thank you for a fantastic stay . we look forward to our next visit .

Attended on 11/10/22 for two nights, The setting is brilliant, and the accommodation is very good. Unfortunately, the stay was completely ruined by an over zealous traffic warden. As we had to park half a mile away, on the final morning, I brought the car up to the property to load the luggage to leave. Clearly, the warden was lying in wait, as when I opened the door 5 minutes later with the suitcase, he had already made out a ticket. I explained that we were briefly loading to leave the premises, but he said it was too late, as he'd already printed out the ticket. He advised to appeal, which I did, but needless to say fell upon deaf ears (so much for encouraging tourism). We had problems with the TV so rang the relevant phone number. There was no answer, so left a message, which wasn't returned. Following the stay, we were asked to submit any comments by email, which I did but received no reply. We could not enter the Boathouse until 3pm on the first day, and had to leave by 10.30pm on the last This leaves two nights and one full day for £364.50, plus the £35 parking fine, bringing it up to 50p short of £400. Disappointing.

A bit grubby and not as accomodation listing. No TV channels or arial in bedroom, DVD had 4 discs jammed in. Downstairs TV needed troubleshooting to work, jack plugs disconnected. Bathroom grubby with fluffy extractor fan and dirty / cracked tiles. Kitchen dirty. No WiFi or Internet access, despite being claimed in accomodation desctiption. Decking area in need of refurb, with paint tins and timber left around. Nice location but does not live up to the claims or price of stay.
