Goathland is a working village on the Moors Railway line, where steam trains still run. The Mill stands right by the water here, a former mill dating back centuries, with direct views of the station from the bedroom windows. The setting is rural and quiet, surrounded by gardens that back onto the river, though the village pub is only a short walk away.
Inside, the cottage divides across two levels. Downstairs holds the living room with a woodburner, a kitchen equipped for proper cooking, and a full bathroom with bath and shower. Two bedrooms sit on the lower ground floor—one double and one with twin singles—alongside a shower room. Bed linen, towels, heating and electricity are included, along with wi-fi. The gardens are split-level with seating areas and a barbecue, and there is parking for two cars on site. Note that the lower garden involves 17 steps and some slopes, and there is a river adjacent to the property; children under 5 are not suitable except babies in arms.
From here you can watch the heritage railway in action or board a train to Pickering or Whitby. Bridleways cross the Moors in all directions, and larger towns like York and Helmsley lie within an hour's drive. Smoking is not permitted in the cottage.
