Whitby's beach lies a five-minute walk away, and the harbour with its replica HMS Endeavour is equally close. The abbey sits on the cliffs above town, reachable on foot. Independent shops, cafés and pubs dot the cobbled streets nearby, most welcoming dogs; a pub stands within a mile. This Grade II listed cottage, tucked through White Horse Yard just off the main thoroughfare, dates to the 1630s and sits at the centre of it all.
The property sleeps 5 across two storeys. Downstairs, an open-plan living space with an electric woodburner and beamed ceiling flows into a kitchen equipped for proper cooking—electric oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave, coffee machine. One bedroom is on the first floor, accessed by spiral staircase; the other sits on the second floor under sloped beams. Both have double beds. The second floor also contains a single bed, ideal for a child. A bathroom with bath and shower sits between them. Wi-Fi, heating, bed linen and towels are included; electricity is metered. The property is non-smoking.
A small front garden opens onto the yard with seating for two. An external utility room houses a washing machine and extra fridge-freezer. An original outhouse toilet remains on site. Access involves 18 steps to the front entrance. Parking is on road or in the nearby public car park. The cottage has storage for a surfboard or canoe.

What guests say
absolutely brilliant place, so clean and well looked after, priced very fairly as opposed to others who hiked their prices this last year, we literally saved hundreds staying here , lovely owners who couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome. Can't wait to return next year for a longer stay
