About The Village Inn

Steak meals and hearty breakfasts are what regulars talk about most at The Village Inn, a straightforward hotel on Water End in Northallerton. It's a place built around good, well-priced food as much as a bed for the night, with a restaurant and bar on site and staff known for going out of their way to help.

Rooms are compact but comfortable, with en-suite bathrooms, reliable heating and hot water, and free WiFi throughout. Family rooms and accessible rooms are available, and drinks can be brought straight to your room. There's a garden for warmer days, 24 hour reception for whenever you arrive, and free on-site parking, which makes life easier if you're passing through rather than staying put.

The location suits both business stopovers and short breaks, with a golf course, pubs, bars, and other restaurants all within easy reach, plus entertainment nearby for evenings out. Breakfast is served on site and kids' meals are available, so families are catered for alongside the traveller crowd the inn was clearly built to serve.

Live Life

Room / service was lovely. Pretty much spot on. Food tasty. Staff very kind. However, on the second night there was very loud music booming & blasting out all night from the hotel opposite the carpark but I suppose that is to be expected on a sunny weekend. I would definitely visit and eat in the future. Food and service on the morning was 9.5/10. Location stunning.

Struggled to find someone to check us in when we arrived. There was no bell to ring or buzzer alarm on door. Eventually someone arrived and checked us in. The accomodation reminded me of Crossroads the TV series as it was like chalets albeit brick and mortar. Positives: heating in bedroom and toilet works well; plenty hot water; shower a good size; good WiFi; ample power sockets; good lighting; toilet extract works. Negatives: shower door didn't close fully; lack of wardrobe space as it was just a coat rack with cheap plastic hangers; damp smell in toilet; no bottled water; door curtain doesn't exclude much light; bath towels neat; There's a sign saying "no toiletries to reduce waste and single use plastics" however ironically, in the restaurant they only served butter, sauce, jam in single use plastics! This was only one of many things in the restaurant for our party of sixteen for dinner: several times the wrong main course was brought despite advising what was required. In fact I finished my meal before the last of our party got their main meal and again it was wrong but she just ate it in frustration. Our party was not alone as there was another party of 7 going through the same frustration. Had to ask several times for water before getting it and I could cite more problems. At no time were we asked on our opinion of the meal. The same person taking the orders in the evening was the same at breakfast - definitely has an attitude problem and is the wrong job! Wouldn't hurry back.

Reviewed yesterday We were a table of 12. Food really good but let down by front of house staff. Service was poor. Staff had to be prompted to take the orders and clear the table between courses . Served the adults first with each course and not the hungry children. For the main course there was an 11 minute delay after prompting the staff from the first adult meal served to the final child receiving their roast dinner. Hence cold food as we wanted to eat together. A disappointing family celebration

We found the staff to be exceptionally friendly and obliging. Special thanks to Helen and Chris and and a big thank you to Leanne who went above and beyond to help resolve a problem in our room. 6 stars to her. The breakfasts were substantial and tasty. The evening meals could do with a bit of revamp but on the whole were acceptable.
