Tower Cottage sits within the grounds of Bitchfield Tower, a 15th-century pele tower set among Northumbrian countryside. The detached cottage is one of three properties sharing access to six acres of landscaped grounds, where a tennis court and fishing lake are available to guests. Newcastle lies within easy reach, while the Heritage Coast and market towns like Alnwick and Hexham make appealing day trips from here.
The cottage sleeps six across three bedrooms: a kingsize with ensuite shower room on the first floor, a double, and two singles, served by a separate bathroom with bath and shower. Downstairs, the living room has a woodburner (initial fuel supplied, further baskets available), a kitchen/dining room equipped for everyday cooking, and a utility room with washer and tumble dryer. A lawned garden with barbecue and furniture is yours for the duration. Electricity, bed linen and towels are included.
The surrounding estate has a lake, so families with young children should note this when planning activities. The nearest shop, pub and restaurant are three miles away. Smoking is not permitted inside.

What guests say
I saw this property in 2014, and now visiting the gardens through the National Garden Scheme it was fabulous to see how the garden has matured. It's a stunning property and garden, and a total hidden gem. We were lucky to be there on a sunny day, although was quite busy, but plenty of space to sit and enjoy the peace. Parking was easy, and we paid by card for tickets at the entrance.
