Wooler sits at the foot of the Cheviot Hills, surrounded by some of Northumberland's most rewarding terrain. The market town itself has shops and a pub within easy reach, but the real draw is what lies beyond: fell walks climb into dramatic upland country to the south, while the coast at Dunstanburgh and Bamburgh lies under an hour away. Berwick-upon-Tweed and Alnwick Castle are both straightforward drives for a day out. Hillside View works well as a base for all of this, a single-storey cottage that sleeps four across two bedrooms and one bathroom.
The layout is practical and unstuffed. An open-plan living space lets everyone spread out or gather round; the kitchen handles proper cooking, and the bedrooms—one with a king bed that opens to the shared garden, the other with twin beds—offer separate sleeping arrangements. Essentials like linen, towels and wi-fi are provided, along with electricity. A shared Mediterranean-style gravel garden offers somewhere to sit outside, and off-road parking is on site. No smoking is the house rule. Dogs stay free and are genuinely welcome here, which makes a difference if you're planning to tackle the hill trails around Cheviot itself.
